The IPEX 156181 is a 1-1/2 inch, 90-degree elbow (1/4 bend) fitting from the Labline Mechanical-Joint Acid Waste System. Made from flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP), this fitting is engineered for laboratory and industrial acid waste drainage. The mechanical joint design eliminates the need for solvent cement, heat fusion, or threading, making installation faster and more practical than legacy glass or metal piping systems. Each fitting ships pre-assembled with olives and union nuts, so installers have everything needed to complete the joint without sourcing separate components.
This elbow is intended for acid waste drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems in laboratories, research facilities, schools, hospitals, and light industrial settings where corrosive chemical drainage is a regular condition. The FRPP material provides broad chemical resistance to many acids and corrosive solutions commonly generated in laboratory environments. Plumbers and pipefitters working on laboratory plumbing specify this fitting as a code-compliant alternative to borosilicate glass and stainless steel waste systems.
Designed for use within the IPEX Labline Mechanical-Joint Acid Waste System. Compatible with other Labline fittings, couplings, and pipe of the same pipe size and joint type within that product family.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with laboratory acid waste systems and applicable local plumbing codes, including IPC provisions for chemical waste drainage. Shut off all water supply and verify the drain line is depressurized and free of chemical waste before beginning any work. The mechanical joint requires proper seating of the olive against the pipe end — follow the manufacturer assembly instructions included with the fitting. Do not overtighten union nuts by mechanical means; hand-tighten and verify joint integrity before returning the system to service.
