The IPEX 034pec is a 3/4-inch PVC Schedule 40 conduit expansion coupling designed to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction in rigid PVC conduit runs. Constructed from PVC, this 2-piece fitting allows conduit sections to move longitudinally without stressing the system, maintaining a weathertight seal and protecting conductors inside. It is installed by licensed electricians in conduit systems where long straight runs are subject to temperature-driven movement. The fitting meets the physical requirements of Schedule 40 PVC conduit systems and is suited for both above-ground and where-permitted in-slab applications.
This expansion coupling is used in electrical conduit installations where PVC conduit runs experience significant temperature variation, such as exterior wall runs, rooftop conduit systems, and long interior runs in unconditioned spaces. The 3/4-inch trade size fits standard 3/4-inch Schedule 40 PVC conduit. Electricians install this fitting at prescribed intervals along straight conduit runs to prevent buckling or joint separation caused by thermal cycling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit coupling for 3/4-inch Schedule 40 PVC rigid conduit systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 352 requirements for rigid PVC conduit. De-energize all circuits before working on or near the conduit system. Expansion couplings should be installed at intervals specified by the applicable code and manufacturer guidelines to account for the thermal expansion coefficient of PVC. Do not use standard PVC conduit cement across the expansion joint, as this will prevent the fitting from functioning as intended.
