The IO HVAC CONTROLS io-dfk-odt is an outdoor lockout thermostat designed to monitor outdoor ambient temperature and send a switching signal to HVAC control systems. It operates across a range of 0 to 100 degrees F and uses an SPDT (single-pole, double-throw) switching configuration, making it suitable for both heating and cooling lockout applications. Licensed HVAC technicians install this device as part of a system-level control strategy to prevent mechanical equipment from operating outside safe or efficient temperature windows.
This thermostat is used in residential and light commercial HVAC installations where outdoor ambient conditions must be monitored to enable or disable heating or cooling equipment. Common applications include heat pump auxiliary heat lockout, economizer control, and cooling lockout during cold weather. The unit mounts outdoors in a protected location and wires into the low-voltage control circuit of the system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation outdoor lockout thermostat for low-voltage HVAC control systems requiring ambient temperature-based switching.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Power down the HVAC system at the disconnect and thermostat before wiring. Mount the sensor in a shaded, protected outdoor location away from direct sunlight and exhaust sources to ensure accurate ambient readings. Follow NEC guidelines for low-voltage control wiring and consult the equipment manufacturer's wiring diagram before connecting.
