The IO HVAC CONTROLS hd-22 is a heavy-duty no-hub coupling designed to connect no-hub cast iron pipe in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) applications. The patented shield design maximizes pressure transfer from the clamps to the gasket and pipe, delivering reliable, leak-resistant joints. A 3/8-inch hex-head screw applies 80 inch-pounds of installation torque to the band and shield assembly, with an ultimate torque rating exceeding 100 inch-pounds. The distinctive green shield aids field identification and simplifies the inspection process. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling as an engineered replacement for less-efficient hub-and-spigot connections.
This coupling is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems where no-hub cast iron pipe is specified for drain, waste, and vent lines. It is suited for new construction and retrofit installations requiring a code-compliant, high-torque connection. The heavier-gauge stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for demanding applications where standard no-hub couplings may be inadequate. The coupling conforms to CISPI 310 and Factory Mutual FM 1680, and complies with ASTM C564, ASTM 1277, IAPMO file 3198, Commonwealth of Massachusetts CMR-248, and City of New York MEA 253-98-E.
Designed as a heavy-duty OEM-style replacement coupling for 2-inch no-hub cast iron pipe systems in residential and commercial plumbing installations.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including the IPC and local amendments. Power down or isolate the affected drain line and ensure the pipe ends are clean, square, and free of burrs before seating the gasket. Use a calibrated torque driver or hex-head driver to tighten the clamp screws to the specified installation torque. Do not over-torque beyond the rated value, as this can damage the gasket or shield assembly.
