The INTERTAPE 85831 is a blue vinyl electrical insulating tape built for general-purpose electrical work in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. Constructed from a soft, plasticized, stabilized PVC film, it measures 60 feet in length and 0.75 inches (19.05 mm) wide at 7 mil thickness. The backing is coated with a non-corrosive rubber resin adhesive that bonds without corroding conductors or terminals. With a dielectric strength of 600 volts per mil and a tensile strength of 17 pounds per inch, this tape delivers reliable insulation performance for everyday wiring tasks. The 85831 is suited for a wide range of electrical maintenance and repair applications. Installation and repair work involving electrical tape on live or energized circuits should only be performed by qualified electricians following applicable NEC guidelines. Stretch the tape slightly during wrap to ensure a tight, void-free seal around conductors and wire-nut connections. Overlap each layer by at least half the tape width when building up insulation on a splice.
