The INTERMATIC K4221C PHO is a stem and swivel mount thermal photocontrol designed for automatic dusk-to-dawn switching of outdoor lighting circuits. Operating at 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz, this unit features a swivel arm that allows the photocell sensor to be aimed precisely at the open sky, improving switching accuracy and reducing false triggers from adjacent structures or reflected light. The gray housing is built for exterior exposure. Licensed electricians and lighting maintenance technicians install this control as a direct replacement or new-installation component on outdoor fixtures and electrical boxes.
This photocontrol is suited for residential and light commercial outdoor lighting applications, including area lights, parking lot fixtures, wall-pack luminaires, and post-top lamps. The swivel mount design makes it compatible with standard outdoor electrical boxes and fixture housings where a rigid stem mount would restrict sensor orientation. It is used wherever automatic photocell control of 120-volt lighting circuits is required without a separate timer or controller.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation photocontrol for standard 120-volt outdoor lighting fixtures and electrical boxes requiring dusk-to-dawn photocell switching.
A licensed electrician should install this photocontrol in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the circuit at the breaker and verify power is off with a meter before making any wiring connections. Orient the swivel arm so the photocell faces open sky, away from artificial light sources, to prevent false switching. Confirm the load connected to the control does not exceed the rated capacity specified on the unit label.
