The INGERSOLL RAND 182L is a pneumatic chiseling hammer designed for heavy-duty scaling, chipping, and surface preparation work. Operating at 4,000 blows per minute with a 1-1/16 inch stroke length, it delivers consistent impact energy for cutting through rust, slag, welds, and hardened material. The tool runs on compressed air, requiring 13 CFM at a 1/4 inch NPT inlet, and weighs just over 1 pound for a tool of its output class. At 9 inches in overall length, it fits comfortably in confined work areas. Millwrights, ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this class of pneumatic tool.
The 182L is suited for industrial and commercial maintenance environments where pneumatic infrastructure is already in place. Typical applications include weld spatter removal, corrosion cleanup on structural steel, pipe surface prep before coating, and general chipping on concrete or masonry. The tool ships with a chisel scaler included, making it ready for immediate deployment on scaling tasks without additional tooling purchases. It is also appropriate for HVAC and plumbing mechanical rooms where pipe and equipment surfaces require prep before insulation or coating work.
Designed for use with standard 1/4 inch NPT pneumatic supply lines. Compatible with chiseling and scaling accessories with a 0.94 inch shank diameter. Verify air supply capacity delivers a minimum of 13 CFM to maintain rated performance.
Installation and operation of pneumatic chiseling hammers should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with compressed air tool safety. Always depressurize and disconnect the air supply line before changing accessories or performing any service on the tool. Ensure the air supply system is filtered, regulated, and lubricated as appropriate for pneumatic impact tools. Use appropriate PPE including eye protection and hearing protection when operating at 4,000 BPM impact rates.
