The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6402567 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the TDXU-E series specification with grade TT9080, it features a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN dual coating that supports high-speed cutting while maintaining edge integrity under thermal stress. The cutting width is 0.079 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.748 inches, making it suitable for moderate to deep grooving passes. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees and the E-style chip breaker geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces. This insert is installed and changed by CNC machinists and tool-room technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is engineered for grooving stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys - workpiece material codes M and S per ISO classification. The neutral hand orientation allows use on standard grooving toolholders without handedness restrictions. The clamp-style insert holding method suits TDXU-E series compatible toolholders. Typical applications include external and internal grooving, face grooving, and parting operations where controlled chip flow and coating durability are required on difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed for use with TDXU-E series clamp-style grooving toolholders. Insert size code is 2E-0.3. Suitable for machining stainless steel, steel, and superalloys per ISO workpiece material codes M and S.
Insert changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop and all axes at a safe index position. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamp securely without over-torquing the clamp screw. Verify seating of the insert in the pocket before resuming cutting - any rocking or gap at the insert seat can cause premature edge failure or dimensional error. Follow facility lockout/tagout procedures before reaching into the cutting zone.
