The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6320547 is a solid carbide cutoff insert in the SFJ series, designed for grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TT9080 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and Titanium Nitride coating for extended tool life in demanding cuts. The insert features a neutral lead angle, a 0.0787-inch cutting width, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.0080-inch corner radius. The J-style chipbreaker geometry promotes reliable chip control and helps reduce cutting forces. This insert is a single-end design and is installed using a clamp-style holder.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications on steel and stainless steel workpieces, covering primary material codes P and M. It fits into ANSI and ISO code SFJ2 toolholders with a size 2 insert seat. Typical use cases include OD grooving, part-off operations, and shallow profiling passes on production turning equipment. The PVD coating process preserves sharp cutting edges, making this insert well-suited for finishing cuts on stainless and alloy steels where edge retention is critical.
Designed for use in clamp-style toolholders accepting ANSI and ISO code SFJ2 inserts with a size 2 insert seat.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
