The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6158059 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Manufactured to the YNMG style with a 25-degree diamond shape, this insert carries a PVD-applied AlTiN and Titanium Nitride dual coating in grade TT5080, optimized for performance on difficult-to-machine materials. The insert measures 0.185 inches in length with a 0.313-inch inscribed circle and features a 0.016-inch corner radius for controlled surface finish. It uses a negative rake geometry with a clamp-style holding method and incorporates the FS chip breaker for improved chip control during turning operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, where edge toughness and coating durability are critical. The FS chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip flow and reduce built-up edge on gummy or work-hardening materials. With a neutral hand orientation, it fits right- or left-hand toolholders that accept YNMG-style inserts. The maximum depth of cut is 0.039 inches, making it appropriate for finishing and light semi-finishing passes. ISO code YNMG130404FS TT5080 is the international equivalent reference for toolholder and catalog cross-referencing.
Designed for use in YNMG-style clamp toolholders accepting insert size code 2.531 with a 0.313-inch inscribed circle. ISO equivalent designation is YNMG130404FS TT5080 for cross-referencing with compatible toolholder catalogs.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamp screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent rocking or premature edge failure.
