The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6000240 is a single-end solid carbide cutoff insert designed for grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the TSC series and carries the TT8020 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN coating for improved wear resistance and thermal stability. The cutting width is 2.00 mm (0.0787 inches) with a neutral lead angle and a 0-degree lead angle orientation, making it suitable for straight, perpendicular cutoff work. A corner radius of 0.20 mm (0.0080 inches) and a relief angle of 7 degrees round out the geometry. Clamping is used as the holding method. This insert is sized to seat in an ANSI/ISO code TSC2 toolholder.
This insert is intended for machining steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. It is rated across material grades C1 through C6, covering a wide range of steel alloys commonly encountered in production turning environments. The chipbreaker designation is C, supporting chip control during grooving and parting cuts. Typical applications include OD grooving, cutoff, and recessing operations on horizontal and vertical turning machines. The insert is a single-end style, so it is indexed out of service once the cutting edge is spent.
Designed for use with TSC-series toolholders accepting an ANSI/ISO code TSC2 insert seat. Primary workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel (ISO codes P and M). Material grade coverage spans C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating procedures. Always confirm the machine spindle is stopped and the turret is fully indexed before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or damage before seating the new insert. Verify cutting parameters against the toolholder and workpiece material specifications before resuming the cut.
