The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6000180 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert engineered for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the TDJ4 insert style, it carries manufacturer grade TT8020 with a PVD-applied TiCN coating for improved wear resistance and surface finish. The cutting width measures 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches), and the insert runs a neutral lead angle with a 7-degree relief angle. A 0.30 mm corner radius (0.0120 inches) supports clean entry and controlled chip flow. This double-ended insert is installed by machinists and tool room technicians working with steel and stainless steel workpieces.
The 6000180 is suited for grooving and parting applications on steel and stainless steel materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. The J-style chipbreaker promotes chip control during deep grooving passes, with a maximum depth of cut reaching 19.00 mm (0.7480 inches). It fits clamp-style TDJ series toolholders and is appropriate for both production turning and job-shop environments where a single insert must handle multiple grooving scenarios. The double-end design extends usable tool life before replacement is required.
Designed for use with clamp-style TDJ series toolholders. Compatible with material grades C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6. Primary workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel (ISO codes P and M). Insert seat size is 4; ANSI and ISO code are both TDJ4.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret locked out before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct clamping screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification and verify the insert is fully seated in the pocket before resuming cuts. Inspect the cutting edges and chipbreaker for chipping or wear at each tool change.
