The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5902339 is a laydown threading insert designed for external thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated with ISO code 16ERM13UN, this carbide insert carries the TT9030 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for elevated heat and wear resistance. The M-style chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during threading passes. With a 60-degree included angle, it is engineered to produce UN-standard external threads and is suited for right-hand thread applications. Machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments rely on this insert for consistent thread form and tool life across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and K. Secondary rated materials include hard materials, superalloys and titanium, and non-ferrous metals (ISO codes H, S, and N). It fits American UN M-Type series toolholders accepting the 16ER insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Typical applications include external threading operations on shafts, fasteners, fittings, and other turned components in aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and general manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in American UN M-Type series toolholders accepting 16ER style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool turret is in a safe index position before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping hardware. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for debris or damage before each insert change to maintain accurate thread form.
