The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5820306 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SHET series, designed for high-performance milling of non-ferrous metals. It carries the ISO designation SHET110505R-P 15K and the ANSI designation SHET110505FR-P S IN15K, manufactured to grade IN15K with a bright uncoated finish. The insert is square in shape with a 90-degree included angle, features a positive rake geometry, and a corner-rounded cutting edge style with a 0.0200-inch corner radius. Four cutting edges are available per insert. With a thickness of 0.1970 inches and an inscribed circle of 0.4330 inches, it seats securely via screw holding. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists install this insert in compatible milling cutters for production and job-shop applications.
This insert is intended for milling non-ferrous metals such as aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and similar soft-metal workpieces. Its uncoated fine and medium grain solid carbide substrate is well suited to applications where sharp edges and low heat generation are priorities. The P chip breaker geometry aids in chip control during face milling and shoulder milling operations. It is a single-sided, neutral-hand insert, making it straightforward to index without repositioning the cutter body. Typical applications include light to moderate material removal in production machining environments where surface finish and tool life on non-ferrous materials are critical.
This insert is compatible with INGERSOLL cutter series 15U1G and 5H6G, as specified by the manufacturer. It conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for the SHET series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque without over-tightening the insert screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for debris or damage before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and runout control.
