The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5811262 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SHLT series, designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. Carrying the IN1030 manufacturer grade, this insert features a TiCN PVD coating applied over a coarse-grain solid carbide substrate. It is a square-shaped, single-sided, neutral-hand insert with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a corner radius of 0.010 inches. The insert measures 0.559 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.229 inches thick. The HR chip breaker geometry and positive rake face make it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on demanding workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, and S. It fits screw-clamped toolholders designed for the SHLT 1405 insert size code. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profiling on CNC machining centers in production shops, job shops, and aerospace or energy-sector facilities where difficult-to-machine alloys are common. The insert carries both ANSI and ISO designations under the code SHLT1405APTN-HR IN1030.
Designed for screw-clamped SHLT-series toolholders accepting the 1405 insert size code. Confirmed compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO P, M, and S material groups). Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under designation SHLT1405APTN-HR IN1030.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Before changing inserts, confirm the spindle is fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris prior to installation to avoid premature edge failure or insert breakage.
