The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5804911 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. It carries the ISO designation AOMT180516R IN2005 and ANSI code APEB64R02 IN2005. The insert is manufactured from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, delivering hardness and heat resistance suited to aggressive cutting conditions. With a positive rake geometry and a sharp cutting edge style, it reduces cutting forces and minimizes workpiece heat buildup. Two cutting edges per insert and a right-hand orientation make it a reliable choice for licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals running production milling equipment.
This insert is engineered for milling cast iron, stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, superalloys, and titanium alloys, covering ISO material groups K, M, P, and S. It fits screw-on insert pockets and is compatible with Ingersoll cutter series 12J1E, 22J3E, 23J6G, 2J1E, and 4W2A. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and copy milling on CNC machining centers in both job-shop and production environments. The insert meets both ANSI and ISO standards, making it interchangeable with ISO-designated tooling programs across multi-brand setups.
Compatible with Ingersoll cutter series 12J1E, 22J3E, 23J6G, 2J1E, and 4W2A. Designed for screw-on insert pockets conforming to the APEB series seat geometry. Suitable for ISO material groups K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), P (steel), and S (superalloys and titanium).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the spindle and engage the machine lockout per shop safety protocol. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; consult the cutter body documentation for the correct fastener specification. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating the new insert to ensure proper registration and runout control.
