The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5802533 is a solid carbide milling insert in the APEB series, designed for indexable milling operations in demanding metal-cutting applications. It carries the ISO designation APKT120332R and ANSI code APEB42R04 IN1030, and is manufactured in a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle. The insert features a TiCN coating applied via PVD process over a coarse-grain carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and edge integrity. With two cutting edges per insert, a positive rake geometry, and an 11-degree relief angle, it is built for efficient chip formation at moderate to high cutting parameters. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC milling technicians are the primary installers and users.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - material groups P, M, and S under ISO classification. It fits into right-hand screw-lock toolholders compatible with the APEB insert style and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes where a sharp cutting edge and positive rake are advantageous. The insert seats into Ingersoll cutter bodies from the 12J1Q, 22J*Q, 22J3Q, and 2J1Q series, making it a direct-fit option for shops already running those platforms on vertical or horizontal machining centers.
Direct fit for Ingersoll cutter series 12J1Q, 22J*Q, 22J3Q, and 2J1Q. Insert style is APEB, ISO code APKT120332R, ANSI code APEB42R04 IN1030. Right-hand screw-lock toolholders accepting size-42 APEB inserts are required.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing inserts, the spindle must be fully stopped, locked out, and the machine placed in an energy-isolated state per OSHA lockout-tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key at the manufacturer-recommended torque for the screw-lock fastener - do not overtighten or use air tools on insert screws. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
