The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523202 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe operations. Formed to the CCGT insert style with an 80-degree diamond shape, this insert features a PVD-applied AlTiN and Titanium Nitride dual coating that supports high-temperature cutting stability. The 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 0.008-inch corner radius make it well suited for light finishing and semi-finishing passes. It carries a positive rake geometry with a 7-degree relief angle and an SA chip breaker. Machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or job-shop environments install this insert using a screw-type holding method on compatible CCGT-style toolholders.
This insert is intended for use on stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium workpiece materials, aligning with ISO material codes M and S. It fits residential and industrial CNC turning centers as well as manual engine lathes where CCGT-style inserts are specified. The SA chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation during finishing cuts on difficult-to-machine materials. A maximum depth of cut of 0.060 inches and a 2-cutting-edge configuration allow for economical use in high-mix, low-volume toolrooms as well as production turning cells.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit turning insert for CCGT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle insert. ISO designation CCGT060202SA TT5080 as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation and replacement of turning inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a powered-down, spindle-locked state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw to the correct seating torque per the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for this insert geometry.
