The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523181 is a DNMG432EM TT5080 grade indexable turning insert designed for demanding metal cutting applications. Built from solid carbide with a PVD-applied AlTiN and Titanium Nitride dual coating, this insert delivers heat resistance and edge durability at elevated cutting speeds. The diamond-shaped body carries a 55-degree included angle, a 0.031 inch corner radius, and a 0.500 inch inscribed circle. With four cutting edges and a negative rake geometry, it maximizes tool life per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC turning center operators install this insert into compatible toolholders on production and job-shop lathes.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - workpiece material codes M and S in the ISO classification system. The EM chip breaker geometry controls chip formation in these tough, work-hardening materials where chip management is critical to surface finish and tool life. The neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of turning operations. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.197 inch, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on medium to difficult-to-machine alloys in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in DNMG-style clamp-type toolholders accepting a 432 insert size with a 0.500 inch inscribed circle. Conforms to ISO standard DNMG150408EM geometry for interchangeability with compatible ISO-designated holders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification to seat the insert securely without cracking the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new cutting edge.
