The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523034 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Carrying the TT5080 grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN dual coating, this insert is engineered for cutting stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium - materials that demand high heat resistance and edge toughness. The 55-degree diamond shape (DCMT insert style) provides a sharp, positive rake geometry with a 7-degree relief angle and a 1/64 inch corner radius, making it suitable for finishing and light semi-finish passes where tight tolerances are required.
This insert fits toolholders designed for DCMT-style inserts using screw clamping (insert holding method: screw). It is sized at a 3/8 inch inscribed circle with an insert length of 0.457 inches and a thickness of 5/32 inch. The neutral hand orientation allows for flexible application in standard right-hand or straight-shank turning setups. Primary application is on CNC turning centers and manual lathes machining stainless steel (ISO material code M) and super-alloys and titanium (ISO material code S) in industrial and job shop environments. The maximum depth of cut is 0.118 inches, positioning this insert for finishing and light semi-finishing work rather than heavy roughing.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. ANSI code DCMT32.51MT TT5080; ISO code DCMT11T304MT TT5080. Compatible with ISO-standard DCMT insert pockets.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing any turning insert. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Verify insert orientation and clearance before resuming cutting operations.
