The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523025 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on difficult-to-machine materials. It carries a dual-layer AlTiN and Titanium Nitride (TiN) PVD coating applied over a carbide substrate, delivering heat resistance and edge durability in demanding cuts. The insert measures 0.254 inches in length with a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) inscribed circle, a 0.016 inch corner radius, and an 80-degree diamond shape. The FG chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip flow with a positive rake angle, reducing cutting forces on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning centers and CNC lathes running stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium stock, corresponding to ISO material codes M and S. The CCMT 21.51 size code and screw-held mounting method make it compatible with standard CCMT insert pockets in both roughing and finishing applications where tight tolerance and controlled chip evacuation are priorities. The neutral hand orientation allows for straightforward application in standard right-hand toolholders configured for CCMT pockets. The FG chip breaker is particularly effective at light-to-moderate depths of cut on high-strength alloys.
Designed for use in standard CCMT insert pocket toolholders. ISO code CCMT060204FG TT5080. Insert size code 21.51. Compatible with workpiece materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before tightening the clamping screw, and verify the insert is flush and stable before resuming a cut. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut stated in the toolholder manufacturer specifications for this insert size.
