The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5520432 is a CNMG-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to grade TT9215 with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers heat resistance and wear performance suited to interrupted and continuous turning of difficult-to-machine materials. The insert has a 0.5 inches inscribed circle, a 0.031 inches corner radius, and an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. Four cutting edges are available per insert, making it an economical choice for production turning environments. The ET chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip flow at moderate to high feed rates.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium - workpiece material codes M and S - where edge toughness and coating adhesion are critical to tool life. It fits standard CNMG insert pockets using a clamp holding method and suits both roughing and semi-finishing passes depending on depth of cut and feed selection. The insert carries ANSI code CNMG432ETTT9215 and ISO code CNMG120408ET TT9215, allowing direct cross-reference when specifying toolholders and insert seats. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and medical component manufacturing will find this insert fits standard production workflows.
Designed for use in CNMG-style insert pockets with clamp-style holding. ANSI code CNMG432ETTT9215 and ISO code CNMG120408ET TT9215 provide direct toolholder cross-reference. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and super-alloys and titanium (material codes M and S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following standard indexable insert seating procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping seat are free of chips and debris before seating the insert to prevent micro-fracture at the cutting edge. Verify clamp torque against the toolholder manufacturer specifications - do not use impact tools on clamp screws.
