The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5519801 is a CNMG432ET TT9225 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. This insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied over a carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal protection at the cutting zone. It carries a negative rake geometry with a neutral hand orientation and an ET chip breaker style, suited for controlled chip evacuation in demanding cut conditions. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 0.031 inch corner radius, this is a mid-size insert built for both finishing and light roughing passes.
This insert is intended for machining stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - ISO material groups M and S. These are among the most thermally demanding workpiece materials in production turning, and the TT9225 grade with its CVD multilayer coating is specifically engineered to handle the heat and work-hardening characteristics these materials present. Typical applications include aerospace component turning, medical implant stock, and industrial process equipment where tight tolerances on difficult alloys are required. The insert is held by clamp method and fits standard CNMG toolholders. It is sold and packaged individually.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard CNMG432 series insert for clamp-style CNMG toolholders accepting an 80-degree diamond insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle. ISO designation: CNMG120408ET TT9225.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating a new insert. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when setting tool offsets after indexing.
