The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5516724 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for precision metal cutting in drilling and milling applications. Manufactured to the XCMT080304TC insert style with a TT9030 grade designation, this insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that supports performance in demanding cutting environments. The diamond shape carries an 83.5-degree included angle with a 0.331-inch inscribed circle and a 0.016-inch corner radius. With two cutting edges and a positive rake geometry, it is suited for high-productivity toolpath strategies. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a replaceable cutting element in compatible indexable drill bodies.
This insert is intended for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - ISO material groups P, M, and S. It fits standard XCMT-style indexable drill bodies and is a common choice in job shop and production machining environments where insert changeouts must be fast and repeatable. The TC chipbreaker geometry is designed to manage chip flow when working through tough, stringy, or work-hardening materials. At 0.125 inches thick with a 7-degree relief angle, it seats correctly in toolholders designed for the XCMT080304 insert size code.
Designed for use in indexable drill bodies accepting XCMT080304-style inserts. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. ISO insert designation: XCMT080304TC 779030.
Insert installation and changeout should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before handling any cutting inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure - do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
