The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5515859 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for precision drilling and boring operations in demanding metalworking environments. Running under the ISO designation XCMT060204TC TT9030, this insert features a diamond shape with an 83.5-degree included angle and a PVD coating applied over solid carbide substrate for extended wear resistance. The TT9030 grade is engineered for performance in steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. With a positive rake geometry and 7-degree relief angle, it promotes efficient chip flow and reduces cutting forces during indexable drilling applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers and end users.
This insert is suited for indexable drill tooling systems used in CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable hole quality is required. Primary workpiece materials include steel (ISO code P), stainless steel (ISO code M), and super-alloys and titanium (ISO code S). The TC chipbreaker geometry is selected for these material groups where controlled chip formation is critical to tool life and surface finish. The neutral cutting direction makes this insert compatible with both right-hand and left-hand drill body configurations that accept the XCMT insert style.
Designed for use in indexable drill bodies that accept the XCMT insert style with insert size code 060204 and a 0.2520-inch inscribed circle diameter. Verify seating pocket geometry and clamping screw specifications against the drill body manufacturer requirements before installation.
Indexable carbide inserts of this type are seated and secured by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver specified by the drill body manufacturer for the clamping screw - do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert or damage the pocket. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
