The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5151057 is a carbide indexable drill insert in the SHLT-N-PH1 series, grade IN1030, designed for use in indexable insert drills compatible with Q-style drill bodies. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, four usable cutting edges, and a positive rake geometry with a PH1 chipbreaker. It carries a PVD-applied TiCN coating that improves wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. With an inscribed circle of 0.386 inches, a thickness of 0.175 inches, and a corner radius of 0.03 inches, this insert is sized at SHLT090408N-PH1 per both ANSI and ISO designation. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production drilling operations on ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium, corresponding to material grade codes P, M, and K. It fits Q-style compatible indexable drill bodies and is intended for moderate to high-demand production environments where insert changeover speed and cutting-edge reliability are priorities. The neutral cutting direction makes it adaptable across standard right-hand drill configurations. The PH1 chipbreaker geometry assists with chip control in interrupted and continuous cuts through the listed workpiece materials.
Designed for use in Q-style compatible indexable drill bodies. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces. Verify drill body compatibility with the SHLT090408N-PH1 seat specification before installation.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the drill body secured before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key per the drill body manufacturer specification to achieve proper clamping force - do not overtighten or undertighten the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket for damage or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate positioning.
