The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120162 is a replaceable drill tip designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN and TiN PVD coating, this tip delivers heat resistance and wear life suited to stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine alloys. It carries manufacturer grade IN2505 and targets material grades M15 and M35. The 16.00mm cutting diameter and 140-degree drill point angle make it effective for both standard drilling and spot drilling operations. Coolant-through design channels fluid directly to the cutting edge, reducing heat buildup and extending tool life. Installed by machinists and toolroom professionals, this insert-style tip mounts via clamp in a compatible TMA-series drill body.
This replaceable tip is intended for use in CNC machining centers and turning centers where stainless steel, duplex alloys, and similar M-grade workpiece materials are machined. The coolant-through capability suits wet-cutting environments where chip evacuation and thermal management are priorities. Spot drilling capability adds versatility for operations requiring accurate hole entry before full-depth drilling. The helical flute geometry with regular spiral promotes controlled chip flow during interrupted and continuous cuts.
Designed for use with TMA-series drill bodies accepting a size 16 insert seat. ISO number TMA1610R01 IN2505 identifies the matching body and seat configuration.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle powered down and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate clamp key or torx driver as specified by the drill body manufacturer to seat the tip securely - do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Verify coolant-through passages are clear before resuming cutting operations. Follow the machine tool and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds when setting up for stainless steel grades.
