The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120156 is a replaceable carbide drill tip designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Built to ISO number TMA1550R01 IN2505, this tip features a 0.6102 inch (15.00 mm) cutting diameter and a 140-degree drill point angle suited for accurate entry and reduced thrust force. The solid carbide construction is PVD-coated with TiAlN and TiN layers, extending tool life in abrasive and heat-generating cuts. Coolant-through design channels cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, improving chip evacuation and thermal control. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians install this tip into compatible TMA-series modular drill bodies.
This replaceable drill tip is engineered for drilling and spot drilling applications where stainless steel is the primary workpiece material, covering material grades M15 and M35 per ISO classification. The helical, two-flute geometry with regular spiral promotes efficient chip flow in interrupted and continuous cuts. Seat size 15 matches the corresponding TMA-series drill body interface. The tip suits production environments in aerospace, oil and gas, and general metalworking where tool change speed and consistent hole quality are priorities.
Designed for use with TMA-series modular drill bodies accepting seat size 15 inserts. Primary workpiece material designation is stainless steel (ISO code M), covering material grades M15 and M35. Conforms to ANSI standards.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel following the drill body manufacturer's torque and seating procedures for clamp-style replaceable tips. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before removing or installing the tip. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or damage before seating the new tip, as debris under the insert can cause runout and premature tip failure. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and unobstructed after installation before returning the tool to service.
