The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5100050 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drill tooling systems. Carrying the IN1030 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN coating, this insert delivers controlled wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The square SPLT06 geometry features a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and an 11-degree relief angle. With an inscribed circle of 0.2430 inches and a thickness of 0.1040 inches, it seats precisely into compatible SPLT-R series drill bodies. Machining professionals specify this insert when running universal material groups across production drilling operations.
This insert is suited for drilling applications in ferrous metals, stainless steels, aluminum alloys, and superalloys, corresponding to workpiece material codes K, M, P, and S. The universal primary workpiece material designation makes it a practical single-grade stocking choice for shops running varied materials on indexable drill programs. It is typically installed by CNC machinists and tooling technicians configuring indexable drill bodies for production-volume or prototype hole-making operations. The right-hand cutting direction suits standard spindle rotation setups on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Designed for use with SPLT-R series indexable drill bodies accepting the SPLT06 insert size code 06. Confirm the drill body pocket geometry and clamping screw specification against the SPLT-R series tooling documentation before installation.
Installation is performed by tooling technicians or CNC machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key at the recommended seating procedure to fully engage the insert in the pocket without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating each new insert edge. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable ANSI tooling standards when handling carbide inserts.
