The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 4208157 is a replaceable drill tip designed for precision drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, this tip delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed operations. It features a 140-degree included point angle, two helical flutes, and a regular spiral type. The tip measures 22.00 mm in cutting diameter with a flute length of 9.00 mm and an overall length of 12.19 mm. Coolant-through capability is built in, supporting effective chip evacuation and heat management during continuous drilling cycles. It is sized to seat in an Insert Seat Size 21 holder and is installed using a clamp-style holding method.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling and spot drilling in stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials classified under ISO material group M, including M15 and M35 grades. The TMA series design supports modular drill body systems where the tip is exchanged without removing the full drill assembly from the machine. Typical applications include precision hole-making in production environments where consistent tool geometry and repeatable performance are required. The coolant-through design makes it well matched for deep-hole or high-feed-rate operations where chip control is critical.
Designed for use with TMA-series modular drill bodies accepting Insert Seat Size 21. Intended for primary workpiece materials classified as ISO M (stainless steel), including M15 and M35 material grades. ISO number TMA2190R01 IN2505 identifies this tip within the TMA product series.
Installation of replaceable drill tips is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following machine tool lockout and spindle stop procedures before any tip change. Seat surfaces should be cleaned and inspected for debris or wear before seating the new tip. Clamp torque should follow the drill body manufacturer specifications provided with the holder. Coolant-through connections should be verified for alignment and flow after installation before resuming production cuts.
