The IMPORT KP65056 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 15, with a decimal diameter of 0.1800 inches. It features a 118-degree standard point angle and an oxide coating that provides light corrosion resistance and reduced friction during drilling. The flute is a regular spiral, right-hand cut, making it compatible with standard drill presses and hand drills. Overall length is 3.375 inches with a flute length of 2.1875 inches and a straight cylindrical shank. The web is thinned and tapered for improved chip clearance. This is a general-purpose bit intended for use by machinists, maintenance techs, pipefitters, and other trade professionals who need a reliable wire-gauge drill for everyday production or repair work.
This drill bit is rated for use in steel and cast iron as its primary workpiece materials, making it well suited for general metalworking, structural fabrication, and mechanical maintenance applications. It runs without coolant-through capability, so it is best applied in standard open-air drilling setups with conventional cutting fluid applied externally when needed. The straight shank fits standard three-jaw chucks commonly used on benchtop and floor-standing drill presses, as well as portable electric drills.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit for use in standard three-jaw chuck drill presses and hand drills; suitable for drilling steel and cast iron workpieces in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals following applicable shop safety practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to startup. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid externally when drilling steel or cast iron to extend bit life and improve cut quality. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and remove the bit from service if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
