The IMPORT 7018605 is a Series 7018 mild steel stick welding electrode designed for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) applications. It measures 1/8 inch in diameter and 14 inches in length, delivering a tensile strength of 79,900 psi. The 7018 classification indicates a low-hydrogen coating, which reduces the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking in the weld zone. This electrode is suited for welding mild and low-alloy steels and is commonly installed by certified welders, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians working in fabrication or repair environments.
This electrode is rated for demanding applications including boiler fabrication, heavy-duty equipment repair, general maintenance welding, production fabrication, and ship hull construction. Its low-hydrogen formulation makes it appropriate for structural welds where code compliance and weld integrity are critical. Single-electrode packaging makes it suitable for evaluation, replacement, or supplemental stock.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement stick electrode for SMAW processes on mild steel and low-alloy steel base materials in structural, maintenance, and production fabrication applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified welder following applicable AWS and applicable local welding codes. Store electrodes in a dry environment or a rod oven to maintain the low-hydrogen coating integrity — exposure to moisture can compromise weld quality. Ensure the welding machine is set to the correct amperage range for a 1/8 inch 7018 electrode before striking an arc. Inspect the electrode coating for cracks or damage before use and discard any damaged rods.
