The IMPORT 20910 is a mechanics-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in metal and ferrous materials. Ground from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch decimal) in diameter and 3-1/4 inches in overall length. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry, lowers thrust force, and self-centers without a pilot hole. The web-thinned, parallel-web construction keeps cutting resistance low across the full range of compatible workpiece materials. This bit is installed and used by machinists, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and general maintenance tradespeople working with drill presses or hand-held power drills.
This mechanics drill bit is suited for short-reach drilling applications where a jobber-length bit would be unnecessarily long. It performs in carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, stainless steel, and general steel workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard three-jaw chucks on both corded and cordless drills. The right-hand cut and regular spiral flute type are compatible with conventional drilling operations. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 3 units.
Designed for use on carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, stainless steel, and general steel workpieces. Straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before beginning any drilling operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent rotation. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or high-alloy materials to extend bit life and maintain cutting edge integrity. Apply consistent, moderate feed pressure — excessive force on a mechanics-length bit can cause deflection or breakage. Inspect the cutting edges and split point for wear or chipping before each use and replace when material entry becomes rough or thrust increases noticeably.
