Fabricated from 30-gauge galvanized steel, this boot offers the corrosion resistance and rigidity required for conditioned-air distribution in standard forced-air systems. HVAC installers use this fitting when routing branch duct runs that must make a 90-degree turn at the register opening.
This register boot is suited for new construction and retrofit installations in residential forced-air heating and cooling systems. It is commonly installed at floor or sidewall register locations where a branch duct transitions from round to rectangular at the room diffuser. The 6-inch round collar accepts standard 6-inch flex duct or rigid pipe, and the 4-inch by 10-inch face mates with standard register grilles of the same face size. Do not use standard cloth-backed duct tape as a primary sealant on pressurized duct systems.
