The IMPERIAL MFG GROUP USA INC BR0185 is a square premium wire chimney brush designed for cleaning square flue tiles and chimney liners in residential and light commercial heating systems. Built with a single spiral construction using 0.0286-inch oil-tempered wire, this brush provides durable, effective scrubbing action to remove creosote, soot, and debris buildup. The brush head measures 8 inches by 8 inches, sized for standard square flue openings. It connects via a 1/4-inch NPT male thread, making it compatible with standard chimney rod systems. Licensed chimney sweeps and HVAC service technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
This brush is suited for routine chimney maintenance in residential and light commercial applications. It is used in square flue tile liners, masonry chimneys, and wood-burning appliance vent systems where periodic cleaning is required to maintain draft performance and reduce fire risk. The 8 inches by 8 inches head size targets common square flue dimensions found in older and mid-century construction. The 1/4-inch NPT male thread connects directly to extension rods for top-down or bottom-up cleaning configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement-grade chimney brush suitable for use with standard 1/4-inch NPT male-thread chimney rod systems in square flue tile applications.
Installation and use of chimney brushes should be performed by a licensed chimney sweep or qualified HVAC technician familiar with NFPA 211 guidelines for chimney maintenance. Before beginning, ensure the fireplace damper is closed or the appliance is fully cooled and disconnected from any active heat source to prevent disturbing hazardous ash or combustion byproducts into the living space. Attach the brush securely to extension rods before inserting into the flue, and inspect the wire bristles for deformation or breakage before each use. Do not force an oversized brush into a flue opening, as this can damage the liner.
