The IDEAL 89-406 is a 6-pole multipole terminal block designed for organizing and securing multiple wire connections in electrical panels, control enclosures, and distribution boards. Rated at 300 volts and 30 amps, it handles branch circuit and control wiring in a compact form factor measuring 3.38 inches in length and 0.56 inches in height. The block body is molded from black polyester thermoplastic for electrical isolation and dimensional stability. Zinc-plated steel contacts provide corrosion resistance and reliable conductivity across the operating temperature range of -40 to 266 degrees F. Licensed electricians and panel builders are the primary installers.
The IDEAL 89-406 is suited for residential and light commercial electrical work where multiple conductors need to be terminated at a single block. Typical applications include control panel wiring, branch circuit terminations, HVAC equipment control boards, and motor control enclosures. The 6-pole configuration accommodates six independent conductor terminations in a single unit, keeping wiring organized and reducing panel clutter. Wire size compatibility spans 22 to 12 AWG, covering both signal and power conductors common in low-voltage control circuits and light power distribution.
Designed as an OEM-style multipole terminal block for use in electrical control enclosures, distribution panels, and HVAC equipment wiring where 22 to 12 AWG conductors are terminated at 300-volt rated blocks.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the panel or enclosure and verify absence of voltage before installing or rewiring the terminal block. Use a calibrated torque screwdriver appropriate for the terminal screw size to avoid stripping contacts or cracking the thermoplastic housing. Confirm wire gauge is within the 22 to 12 AWG range before insertion to maintain the rated ampacity and ensure a secure termination.
