The IDEAL 85-053 is an F-type coaxial connector plug designed for CATV and UHF signal distribution installations. The connector features a nickel plated brass body in a straight configuration with a twist-on installation method that eliminates the need for a termination tool. The F coupling style uses threaded couplings and the cable conductor itself as the contact, which is standard practice for coaxial signal work. Sold in a pack of 10 per card, this connector is compatible with both plenum and non-plenum RG6 cable. It is a practical, code-appropriate choice for low-voltage signal runs in residential and light commercial settings.
This connector is used in CATV and UHF signal distribution applications where RG6 coaxial cable is terminated at wall plates, splitters, amplifiers, or equipment ports. It suits both plenum and non-plenum cable types, making it appropriate for installations inside walls, above drop ceilings, and in air-handling spaces. The twist-on design is well suited for service calls and rough-in work where speed matters and a compression tool is not available. Low-voltage technicians and electricians performing structured wiring or cable television drops will find this a standard-use item.
Designed for use with RG6 plenum and non-plenum coaxial cable in CATV and UHF applications. Cable must be stripped to 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch before connector installation.
Installation is performed by low-voltage technicians or licensed electricians performing signal wiring. De-energize and disconnect any active signal source before terminating connectors on live distribution equipment. Strip the cable to the specified dimensions before twisting on the connector to ensure proper conductor contact and signal integrity. Follow NEC Article 820 requirements for coaxial cable wiring in commercial and residential structures, particularly when routing through plenum air-handling spaces.
