The IDEAL 83-9421 is a female wire disconnect terminal designed for quick, tool-free electrical connections in residential and commercial wiring applications. Rated for 16-14 AWG wire, this slip-on disconnect features silver-colored insulation for straightforward identification during installation and termination work. The terminal accepts standard male tab connectors and provides a secure mechanical and electrical connection without soldering. It carries both UL and cUL listings and meets RoHS compliance standards, making it suitable for installations requiring certified components. Each package contains 25 disconnects, providing enough quantity for multi-circuit panel work, appliance wiring, or HVAC control circuit terminations.
Female wire disconnects of this type are used across a wide range of trade applications including HVAC control wiring, appliance harness repair, panel wiring, and general low-voltage or line-voltage termination work. Electricians, HVAC technicians, and appliance service pros reach for these when making quick-disconnect connections to terminals on relays, contactors, switches, and control boards. The 16-14 AWG range covers the most common control and branch circuit wire gauges encountered in light commercial and residential service work.
Designed for use with 16-14 AWG copper conductors and standard male quick-disconnect tab terminals. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation terminal in residential and light commercial electrical and HVAC control wiring applications.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified HVAC technicians in accordance with NEC requirements for the circuit type and voltage level. Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before installing or removing wire disconnect terminals. Use a calibrated ratcheting crimp tool sized for the terminal and wire gauge to ensure a gas-tight crimp; an under-crimped terminal is a common cause of high-resistance connections and arcing. Inspect the mating male tab for damage or corrosion before seating the disconnect.
