The IDEAL 46-344 is a heat shrink tubing segment designed to provide reliable electrical insulation and mechanical protection for wire splices, terminals, and conductor ends. Measuring 0.40 inches in diameter and 9 inches in length before shrinking, this tubing conforms tightly to the underlying surface when heat is applied, creating a secure, moisture-resistant sleeve. It is a standard workbench and field supply item used by electricians, HVAC technicians, and other trades professionals during wiring termination and repair tasks.
This heat shrink tubing is suited for residential and light commercial electrical work, including panel wiring, low-voltage control circuits, and field-fabricated harnesses. It performs well in tight conduit runs or open junction applications where bare conductors or splices require a clean, insulated finish. Technicians commonly keep a supply on hand for service calls involving wire repair or replacement of damaged insulation.
Designed as a general-purpose heat shrink sleeve compatible with standard wire gauge conductors and terminals that fall within the 0.40-inch pre-shrink inner diameter.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified HVAC technicians in accordance with NEC requirements for insulation and termination of conductors. De-energize the circuit completely before applying heat shrink tubing to any live or exposed conductor. Use a heat gun set to the appropriate temperature range for the tubing material and move the heat source evenly along the length to avoid scorching or uneven shrink. Do not use an open flame to activate shrink on tubing near other insulation or flammable materials.
