The IDEAL 46-319 is a thin-wall, 2:1 shrink-ratio polyolefin heat shrink tube rated for 600 volts and sized for 8 to 4 AWG conductors. At a nominal 3/8 inch diameter, it expands to a minimum of 0.421 inches and recovers to a maximum of 0.185 inches after activation at 70 degrees C. The material delivers electrical insulation, flame retardance, and resistance to common fluids, solvents, and UV exposure. Licensed electricians and low-voltage technicians use it to insulate in-line components, disconnect terminals, wire splices, and light-duty wire bundles where a flexible, high-strength sleeve is needed.
This tubing is suited for residential and commercial electrical work wherever conductors in the 8 to 4 AWG range require a clean, insulated finish. Typical applications include splice protection at disconnect terminals, bundling of flexible wire harnesses, and protection of exposed conductor ends at junction points. Each piece is 6 inches in length and sold individually. Its thin wall profile makes it a practical choice in tight conduit runs or enclosures where clearance is limited.
Designed as an OEM-style insulation sleeve for use on 8 to 4 AWG conductors in standard residential and commercial electrical installations where 600V-rated, thin-wall polyolefin heat shrink tubing is specified.
Installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize all circuits and verify absence of voltage before applying tubing to any conductor or terminal. Use a calibrated heat gun rather than an open flame to activate shrinkage evenly and avoid overheating adjacent components. Allow the tubing to cool fully before re-energizing the circuit or closing the enclosure.
