The IDEAL 46-310 is a thin-wall polyolefin heat shrink tubing rated for 600 volts and designed for electrical insulation, component protection, and wire bundling in low-voltage wiring applications. Each piece measures 6 inches in length with a normal size of 1/8 inch, a minimum expanded diameter of 0.146 inches, and a maximum recovered diameter of 0.063 inches at a 2:1 shrink ratio. Wall thickness is 0.017 inches. The tubing activates at 70 degrees C and carries a service temperature range of -55 to 125 degrees C. Licensed electricians and low-voltage technicians are the primary installers.
This tubing is suited for insulating and protecting in-line components, disconnect terminals, and splices on conductors sized 24 to 20 AWG. It is also used to bundle wires for light-duty, flexible wire harnesses in residential and commercial electrical work. The polyolefin construction provides resistance to common fluids, solvents, and UV exposure, making it appropriate for both interior and moderately demanding service environments. It meets UL 224 and UL 486D approvals for both Canada and the United States.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit heat shrink tubing for 24 to 20 AWG conductors in residential and commercial electrical wiring, splice protection, and terminal insulation applications.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified low-voltage technicians following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize all circuits before applying heat shrink tubing to terminals, splices, or in-line components. Use a calibrated heat gun to apply uniform heat around the tubing until it conforms fully to the conductor or component. Avoid open-flame heat sources, which can damage the tubing or surrounding materials.
