The IDEAL 44-819 is a plug lock designed to prevent accidental or unauthorized disconnection of 220/250-volt plugs in electrical service applications. The device secures a plug in its outlet, maintaining a locked connection until intentionally released by an authorized technician. This type of lockout hardware is commonly installed in facilities where equipment must remain energized or, conversely, where disconnection must be controlled for safety compliance. Electricians and facilities maintenance professionals use plug locks as part of lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs and general electrical safety protocols.
The 44-819 is suited for use with 220/250-volt plug-and-receptacle connections in commercial, industrial, and light institutional settings. Typical applications include securing connections to HVAC equipment, compressors, and other high-voltage plug-connected machinery where an accidental disconnect could cause equipment damage or safety hazards. Installation requires no tools in most configurations and can be applied directly in the field during a scheduled maintenance visit or safety audit.
Designed as an OEM-style plug lock for standard 220/250-volt plug-and-receptacle configurations used in commercial and industrial electrical installations.
Installation and removal of plug locks should be performed by a qualified electrician following all applicable NEC guidelines and site-specific LOTO procedures. De-energize all circuits at the breaker panel before servicing connected equipment. Confirm the plug lock is seated and secured before restoring power. Do not use a plug lock as a substitute for a proper lockout/tagout device where OSHA LOTO standards require a dedicated lock.
