The IDEAL 30-452J is a contoured wing-type wire connector designed for making secure, twist-on electrical splices in copper wiring applications. Rated for 600 volts and a temperature of 221 degrees F (105 degrees C), this connector handles wire sizes from 18 to 8 AWG. The live-action, expanding square-wire spring grips a wide range of wire combinations, from a minimum of two 18 AWG conductors up to a maximum of four 10 AWG conductors. The deep skirt design provides dielectric protection by shielding against flashover and turned-back strands. Licensed electricians and qualified wiremen install this connector in branch circuit splices, fixture wiring, and general wiring terminations. The shell is UL 94V-2 flame retardant.
The 30-452J suits residential and commercial wiring projects where a reliable, code-compliant twist-on connection is required. Its contoured wing profile delivers mechanical advantage during installation, reducing hand fatigue on high-volume jobs. Common applications include panel feeders, lighting circuits, outlet wiring, and fixture connections where copper conductors in the 18 to 8 AWG range are joined. This connector is sold in a standard package of 300 per jar, making it practical for service vans and job-site supply stock. Approvals include UL 486C, CSA C22.2, and CE, covering use across North American and applicable international wiring standards.
Designed for use with copper conductors only, ranging from 18 to 8 AWG. Suitable for standard residential and commercial branch circuit splices where a UL 486C-listed twist-on connector is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before making or disturbing any wire connections. Strip conductors to the appropriate length, hold wires parallel, and twist the connector clockwise until firm resistance is felt. Do not use on aluminum conductors, as this connector is rated for copper wire only.
