The IDEAL 30-1163 is a pre-filled, swept wing twist-on wire connector rated for 600 volts and designed for copper conductors ranging from 16 to 6 AWG. The connector shell is molded from silicone, rated UL 94V-2 flame retardant, and pre-loaded with a 100 percent silicone-based sealant that seals out moisture and prevents corrosion at the connection point. Rated to 221 degrees F (105 degrees C), the 30-1163 is UL Listed to 486D for use in damp and wet locations as well as above-grade outdoor applications. Licensed electricians and maintenance technicians install these connectors where standard dry-location wire nuts are not approved.
The 30-1163 fits the WeatherProof Model 63 product family and is suited for residential and light commercial electrical work in locations where moisture exposure is a concern — junction boxes on exterior walls, underground-to-above-grade transitions, landscape lighting feeds, irrigation controls, and similar damp or wet-rated enclosures. The swept wing body provides a grip surface that reduces hand fatigue during repetitive installs. Each card contains 15 connectors. Minimum wire combination is three 14 AWG conductors; maximum wire combination is five 10 AWG conductors.
Designed for use with copper conductors from 16 to 6 AWG. Minimum wire combination is three 14 AWG conductors; maximum wire combination is five 10 AWG conductors. Suitable for damp, wet, and above-grade electrical junction applications where UL 486D-rated connectors are required by code.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage with a meter before making any connections. Strip conductors to the appropriate length, insert into the pre-filled connector, and twist clockwise until the sealant is evenly distributed around the conductors. Do not reuse connectors once removed, as the pre-fill sealant may be compromised.
