The INTERNATIONAL COMFORT PRODUCTS n5a8t36akawa is a 2-stage air conditioning condensing unit rated at 36,000 BTU/h (3 tons) with an 18 SEER efficiency rating and a SEER2 range of 13.4 to 16.0. It operates on 208/230 volts, single phase, and uses R-454B refrigerant, a non-ozone-depleting refrigerant with low global warming potential. The unit features a scroll compressor, an internal pressure relief valve, and an internal thermal overload for reliable operation. Sheet metal cabinet construction with a dense wire coil guard provides durability in residential or light commercial outdoor installations. Licensed HVAC technicians perform the installation and commissioning of this condensing unit.
This condensing unit is designed for split-system cooling applications in residential and light commercial settings. It supports programmable or standard thermostat controls, giving installers flexibility when integrating with existing low-voltage control wiring. Indoor air quality accessories are compatible with this system, allowing expansion of the installation beyond base cooling. The 2-stage compressor operation enables the system to run at reduced capacity during moderate load conditions, reducing short-cycling and improving dehumidification performance compared to single-stage equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation condensing unit for split-system residential and light commercial cooling applications requiring a 3-ton, 208/230-volt, single-phase, R-454B-compatible configuration.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding an EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power at the disconnect box before servicing or connecting refrigerant lines. Follow local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation instructions for line set sizing, refrigerant charge verification, and low-voltage control wiring. Do not mix R-454B with other refrigerants or use equipment not rated for A2L refrigerant service.
