The INTERNATIONAL COMFORT PRODUCTS MEVD5X48M24A is a 4-ton vertical V-configuration evaporator coil designed for use with R-454B refrigerant. Built with an aluminum coil construction, this unit is engineered to serve as the indoor heat-exchange component in a split-system cooling or heat pump setup. The vertical orientation and V-coil design maximize surface area within a compact cabinet footprint. Licensed HVAC technicians install this coil in the supply plenum or air handler section of a forced-air system, typically paired with a compatible condensing unit charged with R-454B, a lower-GWP A2L refrigerant that is now common in new residential and light-commercial equipment.
This evaporator coil is intended for vertical upflow or downflow installation in residential and light-commercial forced-air systems. The R-454B refrigerant compatibility makes it suited for new construction installs and equipment replacements where next-generation low-GWP refrigerant systems are specified. The Maratherm product line, manufactured by ICP, targets contractors working with current-generation equipment that has moved away from R-410A. Matching the coil to a compatible condensing unit and air handler is required before installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation evaporator coil for vertical forced-air systems using R-454B refrigerant, within the ICP Maratherm EVD5X product group.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician certified to handle A2L refrigerants per current EPA and local code requirements. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power and recover any refrigerant before removing an existing coil or opening the refrigerant circuit. The V-coil must be oriented correctly within the air handler cabinet to ensure proper condensate drainage and airflow direction. Consult the equipment manufacturer installation manual and applicable mechanical codes before commissioning the system.
