The INTERNATIONAL COMFORT PRODUCTS fma4x1800al is a 1.5-ton upflow fan coil unit rated at 18,000 BTU/h, designed for residential and light commercial split-system cooling applications. It uses an ECM multi-speed blower that operates quietly and delivers consistent airflow up to 675 CFM. Refrigerant control is handled by a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV), which optimizes system efficiency across varying load conditions. The evaporator coil is all-aluminum construction, improving corrosion resistance compared to copper-aluminum coils. The fully insulated, galvanized steel cabinet measures 20.5 inches wide, 15 inches deep, and 36.5 inches tall. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit as part of a split-system or package replacement in vertical upflow configurations.
The fma4x1800al is built for vertical upflow installations where the air handler sits below the ductwork. It is suited for residential split-system setups paired with a compatible outdoor condensing unit running R-410A refrigerant. The compact cabinet footprint — 20.5 inches wide — makes it workable in tight mechanical closets and utility rooms. The sloped, corrosion-free drain pan reduces standing water and minimizes conditions that encourage mold and bacterial growth. This unit draws up to 15 amps on a single-phase circuit and is ETL listed for compliance verification during inspection.
Designed for use in R-410A split-system cooling applications as part of the FMA4X Series lineup. Compatible with single-phase electrical supplies in vertical upflow configurations. Consult the equipment documentation for compatible outdoor condensing unit pairings.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation instructions. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before beginning installation or service. Verify refrigerant line sizing against the 3/8-inch liquid line and 3/4-inch suction line specifications before brazing connections. Confirm proper condensate drain slope and trap configuration per local plumbing code requirements before startup.
