The ICM ICM-ICM401 is a 3-phase line monitor designed to protect compressors and other motor-driven equipment from damaging electrical conditions. It continuously monitors incoming 3-phase power and trips on phase loss, phase reversal, and phase unbalance. The unit accepts an input voltage range of 190 to 600 VAC at 50/60 Hz and switches through a 10 amp SPDT contact output, making it compatible with a wide range of commercial and light-industrial control circuits. Licensed HVAC technicians and refrigeration mechanics are the primary installers of this device.
The ICM-ICM401 is well suited for protecting scroll and screw compressors from reverse rotation caused by phase reversal or phase loss at startup. It fits residential and commercial refrigeration and HVAC applications where 3-phase power feeds a compressor rack, rooftop unit, or chiller. The monitor acts as a first line of defense in the control circuit before the compressor contactor, interrupting the control signal before the compressor is energized under a fault condition.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation 3-phase line monitor for commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems using scroll or screw compressors on 3-phase power services ranging from 190 to 600 VAC.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified electrician. De-energize and lock out the 3-phase disconnect before wiring the monitor into the control circuit. The SPDT output contact is typically wired in series with the compressor contactor coil circuit. Follow NEC requirements for control wiring and panel installation.
