The ICM CONTROLS 441c is a three-phase motor protection control designed to continuously monitor three PTC temperature sensors wound into each phase winding of a motor. If any winding temperature or incoming line voltage falls outside the safe operating range, the 441c locks the motor out of operation until conditions return to normal. The unit operates on 120 or 208/240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and provides an SPDT relay output rated at 6 amps resistive. A built-in 4-minute anti-short cycle time delay and a 1-second manual bypass are included. Licensed HVAC and refrigeration technicians typically install this control in commercial or industrial motor protection applications.
The 441c is suited for applications where three-phase motors require individual phase winding monitoring. It protects against under-voltage, over-temperature, power interruptions, and rapid short cycling. The control also detects shorted or open PTC temperature sensors and provides isolation to each sensor, preventing damage to the monitor if a sensor shorts to a winding or case ground. This makes it appropriate for compressor and motor protection circuits in commercial refrigeration, HVAC, and pump applications where phase winding faults are a service concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade control for three-phase motors equipped with PTC temperature sensors wound into the phase windings, commonly found in commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and pump motor applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements and equipment manufacturer guidelines. Disconnect and lock out all power to the motor and control circuit before wiring or replacing this control. Verify that the incoming line voltage matches the control rating of 120 or 208/240 VAC before energizing. Do not bypass the anti-short cycle delay during commissioning, as doing so may cause compressor or motor damage.
