The HY-KO 40640 is a metal pigtail sign stake designed to hold temporary or semi-permanent signage in outdoor ground installations. At 28 inches in length with a 1.75-inch pigtail loop at the top, the stake drives into soil and secures signs without hardware or fasteners. The pigtail design grips standard sign wire or frame edges to keep displays upright in typical field, yard, or roadside conditions. Landscapers, contractors, real estate professionals, and property managers commonly use these stakes for posting notices, directional signs, and informational placards in soft ground.
This stake is suited for residential and light commercial signage applications where a low-profile, reusable ground mount is needed. It accommodates signs up to 10 inches by 14 inches when used as a single-stake mount. For larger signs, two stakes are recommended to distribute the load and maintain stability. The all-metal construction holds up to outdoor exposure better than plastic alternatives, making it a practical choice for recurring seasonal or job-site signage needs.
Designed as a standard pigtail-style ground stake compatible with wire-frame and flat panel signs up to 10 inches by 14 inches in single-stake configuration.
Drive the stake into prepared soil using a mallet or by hand pressure, keeping the pigtail loop oriented to face the sign surface. Power tools are not required and are not recommended for installation. Inspect the ground for underground utilities before driving any stake into soil in accordance with local dig-safe requirements. For large or wind-exposed signs, use a minimum of two stakes spaced at the sign corners for secure mounting.
